Cal wins over Washington St., 66-3.
Party at Effie and Oleg's! Lots of people, lots of drinks and chips and salsa, and lots of yummy rice and curry.
This game was nothing but complete and utter domination from start to finish. On the very first play, Jahvid Best ran 80 yards for a touchdown. 11 seconds into the game and Cal's up 7-0.
WSU's second play, they get intercepted by Syd'Quan Thompson. Kevin Riley's first throwing attempt is caught by Sean Young. 91 seconds into the game and Cal's up 14-0.
And it was just cruising from there. Several more interceptions, a blocked WSU field goal attempt for a TD by Zack Follett, and a surprising 27-yard TD rush by Riley, and Cal's up by 50-60 points. Even Nate Longshore got to play (yay, no interceptions!), as well as backups from all ends of the Cal bench. And I learned that our third-string QB is Brock Mansion, an undeniably nifty combination of two very nifty names.
As for Best, he ended the day with 200 yards and 3 TDs, on only 14 carries. That's disgustingly awesome.
After a while, you start to feel sorry for WSU... but then, no, you don't. GO BEARS!
Oh, and in related news, construction on the new athletic center near Memorial Stadium has started after last week's ruling that the university had addressed all the legal concerns. My opinion? It's about time. I respect the right of those tree-sitters to protest and make a point. But really, when it comes down to it, these protestors are just annoying. I have no sympathy left for these guys. They throw their own shit and urine at people. They clog the road and slow down traffic. They claim to care about seismic safety and shit, but what they really care about is increased traffic from football fans that might depreciate their real estate values on the homes in the Berkeley Hills, which by the way are also on the fucking Hayward Fault! Get over it. If they want to save trees, they should go protest loggers who are tearing down real forests, not a bunch of trees in the middle of a college campus. Hell, nobody cared when the trees went down last year for construction of the new East Asian Library or when Warren Hall was demolished. What a bunch of hypocrites.
